Jack Albertson

Born: 6/16/1907
Birthplace: Malden, Massachusetts

In a long career spanning vaudeville, television, Broadway theater, and film, he is remembered for his performance in the movie The Subject was Roses (1968), for which he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, and for his role in the hit television series Chico and the Man (1974–78). Children continue to remember him for his role as Grandpa Joe in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971).
