Jane Fonda

Born: 12/21/1937
Birthplace: New York City

This Academy Award-winner began her career playing sexy roles and later opted for films that were more in line with her liberal, often radical, agenda. Her films include Barefoot in the Park (1967), Cat Ballou (1965), Klute (1971), and The China Syndrome (1979). To a certain audience, Fonda may never live down her visit to enemy North Vietnam during the war, but she gathered six Academy Award nominations on her way to winning two (for Klute and Coming Home, 1978). In the 1980s, she became a fitness guru with a series of videotapes. Daughter of Henry Fonda, sister of Peter and aunt of Bridget. In 1991, Jane married Ted Turner but in 2001 they divorced. After a 15-year hiatus, she returned to the screen in the J-Lo film Monster-in-Law (2005).
