Rosie O'Donnell

actress, comedian
Born: 3/21/1962
Birthplace: Commack, Long Island, New York

Loquacious television, film and stage actress best known for her highly praised Rosie O'Donnell Show (1996–2002). She started her career as a standup comedian before breaking into television and film. Her daytime talk show, modeled after the Merv Griffin Show, was a refreshing alternative to other trashy talk shows. In 1996 she created the Tickle Me Elmo craze when she gave out 200 dolls to her studio audience. Her films include A League of Their Own (1992), The Flintstones (1994) and Beautiful Girls (1996).
