Paul Simon singer, guitarist, songwriter Born: 10/13/1941 Birthplace: Newark, New Jersey
Grammy Award-winning singer, guitarist and songwriter best known for being half of the folk-rock duo Simon and Garfunkel and for his intelligent, polished recordings. When the pair disbanded in 1970, Simon embarked on a successful solo career and released Paul Simon (1972) and Graceland (1986). In 1998 he collaborated with Nobelist Derek Walcott on the short-lived and controversial Broadway musical The Capeman, about a 1950s murderer.
