Academy Award-winning film and stage actor known for his powerful presence. His films include Dr. Strangelove (1964) and Patton (1970). He appeared in the New York Shakespeare Festival's Richard III and The Merchant of Venice and Broadway's Uncle Vanya (1973). He was married twice to Colleen Dewhurst, and is the father of actor Campbell Scott. Died: Westlake Village, California, 9/22/1999
