Pulitzer Prize-winning short-story writer and novelist whose elegant prose earned her wide renown. Porter's work includes the collections Pale Horse, Pale Rider (1939), The Leaning Tower (1944) and The Collected Short Stories of Katherine Ann Porter (1965), as well as the best-selling novel Ship of Fools (1962).
