Grammy Award-winning singer of classic jazz-inflected music who was popular in the late 1950s and 1960s and enjoyed an enormous comeback in the 1990s, appealing to both baby boomers and the MTV generation. His recordings include Basie Swings, Bennett Sings (1959), “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” (1962) and MTV Unplugged (1994).
