Michael Brecker

Age: 57

Grammy Award-winning jazz musician considered the most influential saxophonist since John Coltrane, his mentor. Brecker fronted his own bands and played as a sideman on hundreds of albums. He worked with Aerosmith, Lou Reed, John Lennon, Chick Corea, and dozens of other artists.

Died: New York City, Jan. 13, 2007
