Vincent Sardi, Jr.,

owner and manager of Broadway's landmark restaurant Sardi's. Known as the Mayor of Broadway, Sardi cultivated relationships with not only stars and directors, but also bit players waiting for a big break. He opened the restaurant in 1947 and retired in 1997, handing management over to his business partner.
