Natascha Kampusch,

Austrian girl, ran to her freedom in August, more than 10 years after she was kidnapped in a suburb of Vienna. She escaped when her captor, Wolfgang Priklopil, left her alone to make a phone call. He killed himself after she fled. Kampusch spent most of her time in a small dark basement. Priklopil allowed her to read books and newspapers, and Austrian officials said she is a highly intelligent and articulate young woman.
