musician whose band, Love, never achieved the fame of the groups it influenced, such as the Doors and the Rolling Stones, but is nevertheless considered a pioneering psychedelic band. Love's 1967 album Forever Changes ranked No. 40 on Rolling Stone magazine's 2003 list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. Died: Memphis, Tenn., Aug. 3, 2006
