Doug Wead,

writer and former evangelical minister, revealed in February that for two years he had secretly taped phone conversations he had with President Bush when he was governor of Texas. Wead briefly considered releasing the contents of some of the tapes before the Bush administration weighed in with its disapproval. Bush and Wead developed a friendship while they were working on the presidential campaigns of the first President Bush.
