Oregon lawyer, was arrested in May on a material witness warrant in connection with the deadly train bombing in Madrid in March. The FBI identified him from a digital photograph taken from a plastic bag found near the scene. After being held for two weeks, Mayfield was released from prison when the FBI acknowledged that his fingerprints did not match those on the bag. Weeks before his arrest, Spanish authorities had expressed doubts about the fingerprints the FBI claimed were a 100% match.
