John Kerry,

U.S. senator from Massachusetts, was the Democratic candidate for president in 2004. Throughout the campaign, Kerry accused President Bush of mismanaging the war in Iraq and the war on terrorism and promised to roll back the Bush tax cuts. The president accused Kerry of being a “flip-flopper” and said he lacked the resolute leadership required to fight the war on terrorism. Kerry selected Sen. John Edwards as his running mate in July. Kerry lost to Bush in the November election.
