Bill Shoemaker

Age: 72

Hall of Fame jockey who ranks second in all-time in career wins, with 8,833. Laffit Pincay, Jr., broke his record in 1999. Shoemaker rode the winning horse in the Belmont Stakes five times, the Kentucky Derby four times, and the Preakness Stakes twice. He was paralyzed in a 1991 auto accident, but continued to train horses from a wheelchair.
