Sammy Sosa, Chicago Cubs slugger, was ejected from a game in June after umpires found cork in his bat. League officials confiscated more than 70 of his bats, and none of them had been altered. He was suspended for seven games. Sosa is the only player in Major League Baseball history with three 60-home run seasons (1998, 1999, and 2001).
