animator who was one of Walt Disney's “nine old men,” a group of elite artists. He created Jiminy Cricket and was animation director on Fantasia, Dumbo, and Cinderella. His team won Oscars for the shorts Toot, Whistle, Plunk, and Boom and It's Tough to Be a Bird.
