Phil Smith

Age: 50

All-American guard at the University of San Francisco and a member of the Golden State Warriors' 1975 NBA championship squad; not heavily recruited out of high school, he excelled at USF, becoming the ninth-leading scorer in school history; all-NBA second-team selection in 1976; Achilles injury in 1979 ended his career. He died of cancer.

Died: Escondido, Calif., July 29
