Wally Pontiff Age: 21
LSU junior third baseman and team captain; ranks in school's top-10 in three categories: hits, doubles and batting average; drafted in the 21st round of the 2002 MLB draft by the Oakland A's. He died of natural causes, but an autopsy revealed a heart abnormality. Died: Baton Rouge, La., July 24
