Duong Van Minh Age: 85
Vietnamese army officer and political leader who served as a military adviser to President Diem and then led the 1963 coup that ousted him. He is believed to have given the order to execute Diem. Van Minh was head of government in 1963, before going into exile. He returned and served as president in 1975, until the North Vietnamese took over the country. Died: Pasadena, Calif., Aug. 6, 2001
