Poul Anderson

award-winning writer who used his background in physics to craft meticulously accurate works of science fiction. His books include The Boat of a Million Years (1989) and A Midsummer Tempest (1974). He won seven Hugo Awards and the John W. Campbell Award.

Died: Orinda, Calif., July 31, 2001
