Hedy Lamarr

Age: 86

Austrian-born film actress of the 1930s and '40s who gained fame by appearing nude in the 1932 Czech film Ecstasy. Once considered the most beautiful woman in the world, Lamarr came to the United States in 1938 at the urging of MGM head Louis B. Mayer. Her career lapsed in the 1950s. Other credits include Lady of the Tropics (1939) and Dishonored Lady (1942).

Died: Orlando, Fla., Jan. 19, 2000
