Capt. Richard J. Ashby,

32, Marine pilot, was cleared in March of manslaughter charges stemming from the 1998 accident in which the jet he was flying severed ski gondola cables, killing 20 at an Italian resort. Ashby and his navigator, Capt. Joseph Schweitzer, 31, were later discharged after being found guilty of obstruction of justice for destroying evidence.
