running back who played eight seasons in the NFL; garnered a Pro Bowl nod in 1969 when he averaged a league-high 4.8 yards per carry with the New Orleans Saints; also played for Philadelphia, Los Angeles and San Diego; retired in 1974 with 2,087 yards on 536 carries and 15 touchdowns; of injuries sustained in a car accident on U.S. Highway 61
