the most successful football coach in New Mexico State history; coached the Aggies from 1958-67 and led them to back-to-back Sun Bowl victories in 1959 and 1960; remains the only coach ever to have the nation's top individual rusher four years in a row; began his coaching career in 1927 at Texarkana Junior College and moved on to Arizona where he spent five years; he finished his career at Trinity College; compiled a 203-94-19 record overall; of colon cancer
