Ross Wetzsteon writer, editor
Wetzsteon was a prominent figure in Off Broadway theater, having helped create the Obie Awards and served as the chairman and host of the event for 28 years. As an editor of The Village Voice and writer, he promoted the works of playwrights, including Sam Shepard and David Mamet. In addition to editing two anthologies, he wrote Republic of Dreams: An Intellectual History of Greenwich Village. Born: 1933? Died: 1998
