Josh Gibson Born: Dec. 21, 1911 Baseball C
the “Babe Ruth of the Negro Leagues”; Satchel Paige's battery mate with Pittsburgh Crawfords. The Negro Leagues did not keep accurate records but Gibson hit 84 home runs in one season and his Baseball Hall of Fame plaque says he hit “almost 800” home runs in his seventeen-year career. Died: Jan. 20, 1947
