Hatteraick
(Dirk). Also called “Jans Janson.” A Dutch smuggler
imprisoned with lawyer Glossin for kidnapping Henry Bertrand. During
the night Glossin contrived to enter the smuggler's cell, when a
quarrel ensued. Hatteraick strangled Glossin, and then hanged himself.
