Most Things Haven't Worked Out

  • Fat Possum/Capricorn

The music of Mississippi hill country bluesman Junior Kimbrough has no discernable roots or influences. His psychedelic-esque, droning guitar licks exist somewhere in blues space drifting eerily about, while his vocals, sparse and tormented, tell stories of broken love and exiled hearts. Kimbrough's maiden effort for Fat Possum, All Night Long (1992), remains one of the most haunting blues efforts of the 1990's. Most Things Haven't Worked Out evolves from Kimbrough's masterpiece, cutting new paths and exploring deeper into a blues sound that is both emotionally intense and surreal
