I Can't Lose

  • Blind Pig

The blues is still a man's world; take into account the lopsided number of albums made by men and compare it to the paltry number made by women, and the case is closed. That's not to say, however, that blues women can't or don't make fine albums. One good listen to Deborah Coleman's striking effort I Can't Lose quickly dispels that untruth. A remarkably engaging singer, songwriter and song interpreter, Coleman does it all. Yet, it's the overall sense of intimacy she creates with all these talents that is the most impressive aspect of I Can't Lose. Like Jonny Lang, Deborah Coleman represents the future of the blues, and it's a bright one at that.
