LeVar Burton actor

Birthplace: Landstuhl, West Germany
West German-born actor best known for his role as Geordi LaForge in the TV series Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987–94) and in the films Star Trek: First Contact (1996), Star Trek: Generations (1994), and Star Trek: Nemesis (2002). One of LeVar's earliest films was Looking for Mr. Goodbar (1977). He also played Kunta Kinte in the acclaimed TV mini-series Roots (1977). He has been the host of the PBS children's show Reading Rainbow since 1983, for which he won two Emmy Awards as Outstanding Performer in a Children's Series and four Emmys for Outstanding Children's Series as executive producer. He has directed episodes of Star Trek, JAG, and Charmed as well as the children's film Blizzard (2003).
