Academy Award-winning film director, writer, actor and playwright whose films range from comic fantasies (Bananas, 1971; Sleeper, 1973) to urban, contemplative comedies (Manhattan, 1979; Hannah and Her Sisters, 1986). Allen won Best Director honors for Annie Hall (1977), which was also named Best Picture.
