Alexander, Grover Cleveland

Alexander, Grover Cleveland, 18871950, American baseball player, b. St. Paul, Nebr. One of the great right-handed pitchers in National League history, Alexander pitched 696 games and won 373 of them, compiling a .642 winning percentage. He played for the Philadelphia Phillies (1911–17 and again in 1930), the Chicago Cubs (1918–26), and the St. Louis Cardinals (1926–29). Alexander was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1938.
