Animated Character

Born: 12 September 1970
Best known as: Leader of The Pussycats
A spin-off from the Archie comic book series, Josie and The Pussycats is a Hanna-Barbera cartoon along the lines of Scooby Doo, an early 1970s attempt to cash in on the youth market. Josie, a clean-cut redhead, is the leader of a trio of rockin' teen girls, and the frequent victim of jealous rival Alexandra. Josie's original TV cartoon debuted in 1970. A later version of the cartoon ran from 1972 to 1976, renamed Josie and The Pussycats in Outer Space. Through all her social and extra-terrestrial troubles, Josie always keeps a level head and triumphs in the end.
