WILDER, William Henry, a
Representative from Massachusetts; born in Belfast, Waldo County,
Maine, May 14, 1855; moved with his parents to Massachusetts in
1866; attended the common schools; engaged in the mercantile and
manufacturing business at Gardner, Mass.; president of the Wilder
Industries (Inc.); studied law; admitted to the bar in 1900; was
admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in
1909; studied the monetary systems in Europe in 1909 and wrote many
articles and pamphlets on monetary questions; elected as a
Republican to the Sixty-second and Sixty-third Congresses and
served from March 4, 1911, until his death in Washington, D.C.,
September 11, 1913; interment in Crystal Lake Cemetery, Gardner,
Worcester County, Mass.
