architect firm; owner, architectural firm, 1982-1993; member, State
house of representatives, 1985-1993; Lieutenant Governor of Rhode
Island, 1993-1997; elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred Fifth
Congress and One Hundred Sixth Congresses (January 3, 1997-January
3, 2001); was not a candidate for reelection to the United States
House of Representatives, but was an unsuccessful candidate for the
United States Senate in 2000.
