TIRRELL, Charles Quincy, a
Representative from Massachusetts; born in Sharon, Norfolk County,
Mass., December 10, 1844; attended the common schools, and was
graduated from Dartmouth College, Hanover, N.H., in 1866; served as
principal of Peacham (Vt.) Academy for one year and of the high
school at St. Johnsbury, Vt., for two years; studied law; was
admitted to the bar in 1870 and commenced practice in Boston,
Mass.; member of the State house of representatives in 1872; moved
to Natick, Mass., in 1873; served in the State senate in 1881 and
1882; elected as a Republican to the Fifty-seventh and to the four
succeeding Congresses and served from March 4, 1901, until his
death in Natick, Mass., July 31, 1910; interment in Dell Park
Cemetery.
