ROBBINS, George Robbins, a
Representative from New Jersey; born near Allentown, Monmouth
County, N.J., September 24, 1808; received a good literary
education; was graduated from the Jefferson Medical College at
Philadelphia in 1837 and commenced the practice of medicine in
Falsington, Bucks County, Pa.; moved to Hamilton Square, N.J., the
same year and continued the practice of medicine; elected as an
Opposition Party candidate to the Thirty-fourth Congress and
reelected as a Republican to the Thirty-fifth Congress (March 4,
1855-March 3, 1859); was not a candidate for renomination; resumed
the practice of his profession; died in Hamilton Square, N.J.,
February 22, 1875; interment in the Presbyterian Church
Cemetery.
