PRICE Charles Melvin , Representative from Illinois; born in East St. Louis, St. Clair County, Ill., January 1,1905; graduated from St. Louis University High School, St. Louis, Mo.; graduated from St. Louis University, St. Louis, Mo.; United States Army, 1943-1944; sports editor; newspaper correspondent; bank director; member of the St. Clair County, Mo., board of supervisors, 1929-1931; staff, United States Representative Edwin Martin Schaefer of Illinois, 1933-1943; elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-ninth and to the twenty one succeeding Congresses; served until his death on April 22, 1988 (January 3, 1945-April 22, 1988); chair, Committee on Standards of Official Conduct (Ninetieth through Ninety-fourth Congresses); chair, Joint Committee on Atomic Energy (Ninety-third Congress); chair, Committee on Armed Services (Ninety-fourth through Ninety-eighth Congresses); died on April 22, 1988, in Camp Springs, Md., interment in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
