PATTERSON, Francis Ford,
Jr., a Representative from New Jersey; born in Newark, N.J.,
July 30, 1867; moved with his parents to Woodbury, N.J., in 1874;
attended the public schools; employed in a newspaper office at the
age of thirteen; moved to Camden, N.J., in 1882; connected with the
Camden Courier 1883-1890; New Jersey editor of the Philadelphia
Record 1890-1894; owner and publisher of the Camden Post-Telegram
1894-1923; president of the West Jersey Trust Co. 1916-1925;
director of the West Jersey Title Co. 1920-1925; member of the
State house of assembly in 1900; county clerk of Camden County
1900-1920; delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1920;
elected as a Republican to the Sixty-sixth Congress to fill the
vacancy caused by the death of William J. Browning; reelected to
the Sixty-seventh, Sixty-eighth, and Sixty-ninth Congresses and
served from November 2, 1920, to March 3, 1927; unsuccessful
candidate for renomination in 1926; engaged in banking, serving as
president of the West Jersey Parkside Trust Co., of Camden, N.J.,
until his death in Merchantville, N.J., on November 30, 1935;
interment in Colestown Cemetery, located between Merchantville and
Moorestown, N.J.
