HATCHER, Charles Floyd, a
Representative from Georgia; born in Doerun, Colquitt County, Ga.,
July 1, 1939; attended the public schools; B.S., Georgia Southern
College, Statesboro, 1965; J.D., University of Georgia, Athens,
1969; served in the United States Air Force, 1958-1962; admitted to
the Georgia bar in 1969 and commenced practice in Albany; served in
the Georgia house of representatives, 1973-1980; elected as a
Democrat to the Ninety-seventh and to the five succeeding
Congresses (January 3, 1981-January 3, 1993); unsuccessful
candidate for renomination in 1992 to the One Hundred Third
Congress; is a resident of Newton, Ga.
