HART, Melissa A., a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pa., April 4, 1962; graduated from North Allegheny High School, North Allegheny, Pa.; B.A., Washington and Jefferson College, Washington, Pa., 1984; J.D., University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pa., 1987; lawyer, private practice; member of the Pennsylvania state senate, 1991-2000; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Seventh and to the two succeeding Congresses (January 3, 2001-January 3, 2007); unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the One Hundred Tenth Congress in 2006.
