DRUM, Augustus, a
Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Greensburg, Pa., November
26, 1815; received private instruction and attended Greensburg
Academy; was graduated from Jefferson College (now Washington and
Jefferson), Canonsburg, Pa.; studied law; was admitted to the bar
in 1836 and commenced practice in Greensburg; member of the State
senate in 1852 and 1853; held several local offices; elected as a
Democrat to the Thirty-third Congress (March 4, 1853-March 3,
1855); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1854 to the
Thirty-fourth Congress; resumed the practice of law in Greensburg,
Westmoreland County, Pa., and died there September 15, 1858;
interment in St. Clair Cemetery.
