DENISON, Charles, (nephew
of George Denison), a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in
Wyoming Valley, Pa., January 23, 1818; received a liberal
education, and was graduated from Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pa.,
in 1838; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1840 and commenced
practice in Wilkes-Barre; elected as a Democrat to the
Thirty-eighth, Thirty-ninth, and Fortieth Congresses and served
from March 4, 1863, until his death in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., June 27,
1867; interment in Forty Fort Cemetery, Kingston, Pa.
