Tim Gunn has been the mentor to designers on Bravo’s
Project Runway since the show’s debut in 2004.
He has had a long career in fashion. Gunn joined Parsons The New School
for Design in New York City in 1982, became associate dean there in 1989,
and then took over as the school’s chair of the department of
Fashion Design in 2000. Beginning in 2004, Gunn was brought onto
Project Runway to mentor the designers in the
competition. Gunn enjoyed good fortune in 2007. Indeed, in March 2007 Gunn
left Parsons to become the chief creative director of Liz Claiborne, Inc.
His book, Tim Gunn: A Guide to Quality, Taste, &
Style, was published in May 2007. Bravo premiered the new show
Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style in September 2007
with Gunn as the host.
