Korn Biography

Korn

metal band
Born: 1992
Birthplace: Bakersfield, California

One of the most significant bands of the post-grunge era, Korn is credited with updating and redefining the metal sound through their funk-inspired harmonies and prominent vocals. Korn began life as the quartet LAPD, comprised of guitarists James “Munky” Schaffer and Brian “Head” Welch, bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu, and drummer David Silveria. When mortuary-science student and aspiring vocalist Jonathan Davis joined the group in 1993, the band took the name Korn and recorded its self-titled debut album, released the following year. Headliners for the 1997 Lollapalooza tour, the roguish band has released two follow-up albums—Life is Peachy (1996) and Follow the Leader (1998).
