Does Russia produce the most steel of any country in the
world?
The Answer:
No. According to the International Iron and Steel
Institute, the world leader in steel production in 2005 was
China. It produced 349.4
million metric tons of steel. Japan came in second, with
112.5 mmt. Third was the United
States (94.9), and Russia was in fourth place (66.1). Rounding
out the top five was South Korea (47.8).
