The Answer:
Most elephants
in the wild will eat between 300 and 500 pounds of vegetation and
drink 50 gallons of water every day. They are known to spend 18 to 20
hours a day eating.
They are considered browsing animals, or animals that are known
to feed or nibble off tree foliage, bark, twigs, loose fruits, leaves,
shoots, and tall grasses. Apparently this works well for the elephant,
these giant vegetarians typically live up to 70 years.
