Savvy Shields from Arkansas walks away with the Miss America crown on September 11, 2016, in Atlantic City. She beats 51 other contestants, including the pageant's first openly gay competitor, Miss Missouri Erin O'Flaherty. Shields's special talent for the pageant is a jazz dance to the hit song "Smash." Her secret desire in life is to be a backup dancer for famous pop star Beyoncé, but currently she is an art major at the University of Arkansas.
