Stan Wawrinka and Angelique Kerber Win U.S. Open

The U.S. Open wraps up on Sunday, September 11, 2016, in Flushing, New York. Stan Wawrinka from Switzerland takes first place in men's singles, beating opponent Novak Djokovic from Serbia. This is Wawrinka's first U.S. Open and third Grand Slam title. In the semi-finals of the women's singles, U.S. player Serena Williams's 186-week streak as number one in the world ends as she is defeated by Czech Republic player Karolina Pliskova. Pliskova then faces Angelique Kerber from Germany in the final, which Kerber wins, claiming the Open title on Saturday, September 10.
